Junior Film Club

1st and 3rd Saturday morning of each month

Junior Film Club
It’s the weekend!! Ahhh – the smell of the fresh popcorn and hotdogs, the sight of the big screen, the large comfy floor beanbags, your friends around you and some crafty things to do …yes it’s Junior Film Club time!!

Above all, the Junior Film Club is about having some fun! The age range guide is from 3 – 11 yr olds with both PG and U certificate films being shown. We mix up the screenings so that animation films and those using real actors are equally represented. We have already shown some classics such as The Jungle Book and The Wizard of Oz as well as some more recent films like The Secret Garden and The Secret of Kells.

The venue seats 90 people. However, there are large beanbags at the front for those children who are a little more laid-back, and as well as comfortable chairs in rows, lots of extra fixed-booth seating around the outside for parents who would rather keep a beady eye on their little ones. For those who are more trusting, there is a chill-out area at the rear for you to relax and read the papers.

Refreshments include fair-trade tea and coffee, organic fruit juices, organic hotdogs and freshly prepared salty and sweet popcorn made to our own, completely natural recipe on site in our wonderful popcorn machine…nothing artificial added at all!
(Please note that the Club does not allow food and/or drink to be brought onto the premises).

Screen 17 uses Blu-Ray film discs where the titles are available in that format. Our sound system is of top quality and we back project onto an 8’x6’ screen for a more professional and safe environment.

Craft Sessions

Scribble and Smudge
It wasn’t long after Screen 17 cinema was born that we had another idea – to ask Lesley Palmer of Scribble & Smudge to join in the fun. The idea was to provide a film related craft activity prior to each screening exclusively for the Junior Film Club. The idea was to actively involve the children in the theme of each film and also give them something to take away with them at the end.

There have been some fantastic sessions to date and please do follow the link below to see some pictures of the junior’s handy-work.

(May we remind you that by taking part you are agreeing to do so at your own risk and none of the organisers can be held responsible for any injuries)

In order to comply with current legislation Nick, Ian and Lesley all have current CRB checks in place.  If you wish to see them please ask us.
